My SuperDuty has left the factory only 14 months after I ordered it.
[this is a specialized truck and some of the LPO options combined with
dealer allotment to delay]
The good news is it left the factory the week of May 10-15. The bad news
is it was temporarily misplaced along the way. It has been located, but my
dealer is concerned about rumours of a delivery strike that may strand it
at the railyard.
Has anyone else heard about such a strike?

The truckers were still negotiating as of yesterday and I have not heard yet
what the outcome was, but to answer your question, yes, there is the
possibility of a strike.

its POSSIBLE i may in the past have been INVOLVED with such pranks on
unloved teachers.
that one didnt turn out quite the way it was expected.... anyway, i dont
think it would work
on larger vehicles, as the tailpipe is much larger and cant hold the potatos
as well.

it was blind stupid luck it wasnt a ford, as in those days i was 150% a GM
fan, as every one of my
fathers company cars was a P.O.S. when i was growing up. several LTD's, a
Taurus, and a thunderchicken.. all
70's and 80's vehicles. in 1986 his company switched fleet buyers to a local
chevy dealership, and all the problems
went away.. to the tune of a significant reduction in fleet downtime...

my f-150 is my first NEW ford product, and i havta say i bought it not
because of any reasearch i did, but because i really like the looks, needed
a truck and the dealer GAVE it to me.(last '98 on the lot, XLT STX, std cab
short bed, 4.2, 5 speed.. kinda a hard truck to get rid of with '99s rolling
in). I havent regretted it since, and have already ordered my '00 lightning
from the same salesperson.

The NHTSA site at http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/ is a very good source of
current (AND UPCOMING) TSBs, recalls, and other safety information.

Searching hints:

Select Recalls.
Select the year.
Select the make (for example "Ford Truck" not "Ford")
Select the model (for example "F350" See note below.)
Leave the component type blank to see all of the items it finds.

IMPORTANT: Search on ALL possible models. For example, if you have a Super
Duty F-250, select "F Super Duty" and finish the search, THEN GO BACK and
select F250 and finish the search. I noticed that not all of the Super Duty
pickup truck items were found by the "F Super Duty" search.

Is there a new recall coming up???

An F250 (and F350) search showed a recall labeled NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number:
99V093000 regarding the fuel tank assembly. It says that owner notification
will begin during May or June 1999. Anyone know anything more about this
one??? My dealer's service manager says he hasn't heard about it, at least
not yet.

Alan

Subject: FTE 97up - Re: FTE 97up black box

I own a '99 F-250 S.D. 4X4 LWB 5.4L truck. This morning, I read a
story on the
AP News service web site that told how General motors has been placing
a "black box" in many of there vehicles built and sold over the past
several years. The article also stated that Ford has also installed the
"black box" in all of their '99 vehicles. This box is supposedly
intended to make a record of engine data, including mileage, stopping,
starting, braking, idling, etc., along with date and time of each
individual action. The article quoted a GM spokesman who said that the
boxes are intended to collect data for safety research purposes only and
are not intended to violate anyone's privacy. The article stated that
insurance companies are using this information to determine fault in
accident cases where there is a question of whether or not someone was
braking, or accelerating, or whatever, in the moments prior to an
accident. My question is: Where is this box located on my Ford truck ....
